Elevador da Bica – A história do funicular de Lisboa à nossa porta

Lisboa tem muitos ícones; pastéis de nata, telhados de terracota e edifícios em tons pastel são apenas alguns. O mais impressionante de todos, no entanto, são os elétricos e funiculares usados para passear pelas sete colinas sobre as quais Lisboa foi construída. A apenas alguns minutos a pé do nosso hotel fica a Rua de São Paulo; uma rua estreita, de paralelepípedos e íngreme conectada à Rua do Loreto pelo histórico Elevador Da Bica um funicular que está em operação desde 1892. Aqui está o que precisa saber sobre esta história do funicular de Lisboa à nossa porta.

O Elevador da Bica são dois carros ligados entre si por cabos que sobem e descem simultaneamente; cada um funcionando como contrapeso para o outro. Quando construído pela primeira vez, o funicular movido por um sistema de contrapeso de água; o carro no topo da colina foi enchido com água no seu tanque até ficar pesado o suficiente para descer e puxar o outro carro para cima. Em 1896, o elevador era movido a vapor e em 1924 era totalmente operado por eletricidade. O funicular sobe a uma distância de 245 metros com uma inclinação de 11,8%. Desloca-se tendo como pano de fundo o deslumbrante rio Tejo e atravessa o bairro da Bica em direção ao Bairro Alto.

Considerando tudo, este é o passeio mais pitoresco da cidade. É fácil ver por que assim que o experimenta, para além da paisagem deslumbrante do rio, o Bairro da Bica é o mais fotografado de toda a Lisboa pelos visitantes. A principal razão para isso é que é uma parte tradicional e autêntica da cidade. O pequeno bairro entre o Bairro Alto e o Cais do Sodré consiste em becos de paralelepípedos com escadas que datam o ano de 1597. Com vista para o rio Tejo, edifícios do século XVIII, varandas ornamentadas e paredes de azulejos sem fim, irá assim cativá-lo pela escolha ao capturar os dias em Lisboa. Após um longo dia de passeios, pare em um dos pequenos cafés para tomar algo e ver o mundo passar com Lisboa por toda parte.

O Mercado Da Ribeira, sempre esteve localizado na sua sede ribeirinha na Avenida 24 de Julho. A história pode ser rastreada até o século 13, mas o mercado começou em 1882. O edifício em si é instantaneamente reconhecível com sua impressionante torre do relógio e cúpula oriental. Também já foi o mercado de peixe mais famoso de toda a Europa. No entanto, no século 21, sua popularidade diminuiu, como tal, a área e a construção caíram em uso e vendas. Numa tentativa de reviver a instituição histórica, em 2010, a Câmara Municipal de Lisboa convidou os licitantes a reformular o mercado. A revista TimeOut Lisboa venceu a licitação e obteve permissão para executar os seus ambiciosos planos.

 

Hoje, é um espaço vasto que combina tradicionais bancas de produtos locais, comida artesanal e um imperdível food hall com chefs de topo. Uma variedade de alimentos e bebidas, desde frutos do mar a sorvetes, pode ser encontrada no mercado. É um lugar maravilhoso para observar o ritmo de Lisboa. Entre as 6h e as 14h o rés-do-chão enche-se de barraquinhas de produtos frescos. A população local chega cedo para comprar os melhores legumes, frutas ou até flores. A hora do almoço atrai os jovens profissionais lisboetas ao salão ocidental, a correr pelas mesas comunais com sandes, sushi ou hambúrgueres acabados de cortar. À medida que o sol se começa pôr, o refeitório gourmet recebe comensais sofisticados sempre em busca de algo novo.

Purposes and legal basis of data processing
TLC – The Lisbon Club – Actividades Hoteleiras, S.A. processes the User data in the context of the accommodation and catering services and for sending relevant information of an institutional or promotional nature. Personal data are also processed to fullfill legal obligations, where applicable.
The data processed may consist in identification data, contact and other data that is collected in the context of the relationship with the User, specifically in case of booking, the credit card data.
